Meaningful sites stem from a clear understanding
of both user and business goals, and must be manifested in the fundamental
structure of the website. Through close relationships with clients
and a strong attention to strategy and structure, the site plan
determines the direction for the entire project.
McKinsey Marketing
The architecture that I created for this prominent marketing group
revolved around the core capsules that the practice offers. The
user paths and profiles for the project involved extensive research
into the McKinsey community. This resulting in a structure that
is both quickly accessible, as well as hierarchically organized.
McKinsey Learning Portal
For the creation of Learn, The Learning Portal, the primary challenge
was to create an interface that would clearly convey the incredible
diversity of information being presented. To facilitate this, I
first created a needs assessment based on the site constituents.
Working closely with the client, I then helped structure the site's
contents into easy to understand categories, based on these needs.
Federal Farm Credit
This site was a tremendous undertaking, integrating the entire banking
system of the Farm Credit organization. The overall site structure
revolved around 5 user profiles, with distinct features and goals
for each one. The public site, representing the tip of the iceberg,
needed to educate the general public on the Farm Credit System.
The member section required a complete restructuring to allow for
task-based flow through the different functions. The resultant site
incorporates these disparate users and goals into a clearly discernible
areas.
Mouse
Mouse is a not for profit organization involved in upgrading technology
in K-12 schools around New York City. The site plan for Mouse needed
to address both teachers and students, as well as the technology
sector. To accomplish this effectively, the site structure has been
divided into a three tier hierarchy, allowing for easy browsing,
while providing clear access to specific information.
College Xtra
For this system of portals, the challenge was in creating a structure
for multiple levels of administration that would be saleable to
many different colleges. In addition, the structure needed to be
flexible enough to allow for customization per each portal, while
not diluting the parent identity of College Xtra. The solution is
a system of templates, with multiple levels of administrative control
over the appropriate domain areas. This solution gives the client
the ability to quickly roll out unique instances, and expand features
systemwide.
