Monkeytown Jam Session
December 18th 2007
Anyone know where the word, “gig” comes from? One of the original jazz cats of the NY scene relayed the story; how in the early days, (no, he didn’t seem old enough, but close), rich folk would drive up to Harlem and pick up a few players for their downtown parties. The jazz musicians got paid to do this, which tickled them because hey, its what they loved to do; tickled…giggles…gig.I’ll be jamming at this gig with a bunch of cats, including Leisure Muffin, Charles Cohen, Superdraw, Housewives Guide to Anatomy, and David Polenberg.
